28 Mar CBD For Cancer Treatment
Statistics show over 1.6 million individuals are diagnosed with cancer every year. Almost 600,000 of them do not survive the disease. The worst statistic of all shows forty percent of all people will be given a diagnosis of cancer at some point in their life. The possible use of cannabis as a treatment began in the 1970’s yet this option has been largely buried.
A group from the University of Virginia conducted a study regarding cannabis in 1974. They found cannabis oil showed effectiveness in treating brain tumors. Another study in 2015 showed bladder cancer rates dropped 45 percent among individuals who used cannabis. There are currently products derived from cannabis used for the treatment of cancer and other illnesses. This is raising hope for medical professionals and patients. The research show a great deal of potential regarding cannabis in the treatment of cancer.
The Effects Of Cannabis On Cancer
Cannabis works directly with the endocannabinoid system in the body. This system is referred to as ECS. Homeostasis of all the body’s metabolic processes is promoted by the cannabis oil. This helps in the activation of numerous important receptors. When the body does not have enough endocannabinoids there are a lot of different things that can go wrong. Unfortunately this includes cancer. The cannabis based in plants combines with the bodies CB receptors and enables the body to achieve homeostasis which fights disease. This process has been found critical in killing cancer.
The CB1 And CB2 Receptors
When the CB1 and CB2 receptors activate in the body a chemical cascade is triggered. This causes apoptosis which is a term meaning programmed cell death. This causes cancer cells to dissipate in a way where no residue is left, no harm is caused to the body and there is no dead toxicity. The only cells killed by this process are cancer cells. The space left by the dissipated cells are simply filled by healthy cells.
The Treatment Results
Research has concluded cannabis, in the form of CBD drops, is effective when used for treating cancer. Cannabis also has the ability to alleviate pain and can prolong the life of a cancer patient. This raises a lot of questions as to how success is actually measured. Some researches measure success as a patient’s quality of life until they pass while others measure it by the period of time a patient’s life was extended. There are still other researchers who claim true success is a patient going into full remission and not relapsing. The objectives of the patient must be considered. For many patients alleviating the symptoms of cancer is success. The research into treating cancer with cannabis is continuing. At this time it is unknown as to whether cannabis will eventually cure cancer.
